Yesterday on the blog, immediately following the Mets’ 1-0 loss to the Washington Nationals, I wrote that I no longer endorse Willie Randolph as manager. Furthermore, I could see him being firedĀ as early as in two weeks from now.
Being a more or less optimistic person, I went to the bed last night thinking I’d [...]

This is a case of “enough is enough.”
With a 1-0 loss this afternoon, the Mets have finished their latest homestand with a 3-4 record, one that included the Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals. Both the Reds and Nats are last place teams, both have inferior rosters in comparison with the Mets.
While the Mets [...]

From the mouth of the loudest quasi-owner in sports, Mr. Henry (Hank) Steinbrenner:
“The bottom line is that the team is not playing the way it is capable of playing. These players are being paid a lot of money and they had better decide for themselves to earn that money.

As a Mets fan, it is very easy to root for Nelson Figueroa, the Coney Island native, who has been solid for the Mets so far this season in replacement of Pedro Martinez. It has come to my attention that Lima’s stint in Korea has been pretty awful.
According to the East Windup Chronicle, [...]

Several media outlets are now reporting that Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will be awarded the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award later today. Bryant, arguably the league’s most popular player, will be receiving this distinction for the first time in his career.
There is no debate that Kobe “qualifies” for the award. Some fans however, are annoyed [...]

Wait a minute… Did the Mets actually man up and take two out of three games against the NL leading Arizona Diamondbacks?!?! They won two games started by Micah Owings and Dan Haren?
Who is this team and what did they do with my underacheiving Mets?

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Micah Owings is a good hitter…and by good I mean DY-NO-MITE hitter.
It’s one thing when Johan Santana has a 2 -3 with two doubles effort like he did last week for the Mets or when Rick Ankiel, who couldn’t pitch anymore, is good enough of a hitter to convert into a corner [...]

What is newsworthy here is that when Smoltz returns from the hiatus, according to a text message sent to Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he intends [...]
