Another Open Letter

Dear Sidney “Cindy” Crosby and Evgeni Malkin,
I despise both of you. Thanks for making all of my Stanley Cup dreams not come true. I acknowledge that you are both fantastic players, and if you were both on my team I would probably love your fire and grit more than anything, but you aren’t, and so [...]

A Quarter of the Way There

The New York Rangers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins last night by a score of 3-0 in game four of the Eastern Conference Semi Finals. The victory allowed the Rangers to stave off elimination for another game, but are still down 3-1 in the best of seven series. Henrik Lundqvist and Jaromir Jagr came up big [...]

Avery Suffers Lacerated Spleen

According to several news sources, Forward Sean Avery of the New York Rangers has suffered a lacerated spleen and will not play again during the playoffs. There was also a story published in the New York Daily News that stated Avery had gone into cardiac arrest as well, but the Rangers have denied this report. [...]

Pittsburgh is Ridiculous

The Rangers are down 0-2 in the best of seven games with the Penguins in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. …And somewhere Devils fans are grinning…Good grief
Normally, this would be a post where I’d rant at how badly the Rangers have been playing and that they need to step it up. However, after watching [...]

A Challenge Awaits…

As you all should know by now, the New York Rangers played fantastic hockey in the last round. They beat the Devils up physically and mentally, and even beat them at what they do best, which is play lock-down defensive hockey. Jaromir Jagr looked like his 2006 and 2007 self, contributing more offensively then it [...]

Rangers Won’t Be Hurt by the Downtime

Other than seeing Scott Gomez, Brendan Shanahan, Sean Avery, and Chris Drury hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup in June, there is nothing better than seeing the Rangers beat the Devils in five games the way the Rangers did last week. As many of you know, the Rangers have had a considerable amount of time to relax [...]

Did Yesterday Really Happen?

I woke up this morning and realized that yesterday….
1. Isiah Thomas was fired.
2. The Mets defeated the Phillies and Cole Hamels.
3. The Rangers ousted the Devils from the playoffs.
Wow. What a great day. I don’t usually have ones like that (given my choice of teams).

Ohhhhh Baby!

“Well, everyone talks about how classy/unclassy I am, and fatso there just forgot to shake my hand.”
-Avery on Brodeur at the end of the game (Thanks Johnny Rigatoni)

Unbelievable series. The Rangers just did everything better then the Devils did, except for having the refs on their sides. More on the series tomorrow.

Nice Redemption Stories

Sports has an innate ability to generate some nice redemption stories. On this Thursday morning, two come to mind here in New York.
Last night, the Rangers defeated the Devils in Game 4 of their playoffs series by a score of 5-3. The winning goal was scored with about 3 minutes left in regulation by one [...]

The Sean Avery Rule

Have you ever heard of a sports league implementing a new rule in the middle of a season? How about in the middle of the postseason?!?
Well, the NHL did just that in an immediate response to the shenanigans of NY Rangers LW Sean Avery in the third game of the Devils-Rangers playoff series. In effort [...]
