Private Eye…Watching You…

Watching your every move.  A little Hall and Oates for you as we track the results of ex-Mets on Opening Day:

Center fielder Lastings Milledge, whose off-season trade was widely panned by fans of the team, debuted on Sunday night with an 0-4 at the plate in the Washington National’s thrilling victory over Tim Hudson and [...]

Johan’s All-Wright!

The Mets began the 2008 season far from where they left off last year—winning in solid fashion down in Florida, 7-2.  On a day when various pitching aces had difficulty all over the league, Santana was brilliant—striking out 8 over seven innings.  He gave up three hits, but only one, a home run in the [...]

Sorry Scott, It’s Already Starting

Joe Torre made his managerial debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers today.  The Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-0 to start the 2008 season.  No surprise there, as the 2008 Giants have a very good chance of being one of the worst offensive teams in baseball history.  I think the fact that they started the season [...]

Yankees Postponed

Unbelievable.  Today’s Opening Day game was postponed due to bad weather.  It has been re-scheduled for tomorrow night at 7:05 P.M.  Unfortunately, weather is just one of those things we can’t control.  As Al Bundy would sarcastically say, “Thanks God”

My Favorite Opening Day

April 9, 1999.  Yankees home opener, what a special day.  I was in 8th grade at the time, and it is a day I will never forget.  I was in attendance to see the defending champs raise the flag celebrating the 1998 World Series title, a commemoration of the greatest baseball team of all-time.  Yankee [...]

Today The Wounds Close…

Today is a beautiful day for Met fans.
We usher out the pain of the 2007 season, finally putting the worst collapse in baseball history on the back burner.
We get to see our new ace, the savior of the franchise Johan Santana, go and begin what we hope will be a 20 win, Cy Young season, [...]

HERE WE GO!!!

Today’s the day people.  The Yankees and Mets kick off the 2008 season, a day I’ve been counting down to for months now.  The Yankees play the Toronto Blue Jays today at 1:05 in the last ever Opening Day game at Yankee Stadium.  The Yankees will send out Chien-Ming Wang (on his birthday, let’s hope [...]

I Love the Hate

Remember all the goodwill surrounding the Mets following the acquisition of Johan Santana? Well, let’s just say many of the so-called experts have their doubts. They all seem to like an old rival too…

No Class In the Nation’s Capital

The Washington Nationals kicked off a new era of baseball tonight with the opening of their stunning new ballpark. They had a number of ceremonies to celebrate the event, including having President Bush throw out the first pitch. A team and its fans should be honored to have a president throw out a [...]

Yankees Announce Opening Day Roster

The Yankees announced their 25-man Opening Day roster.  There were a lot of difficult decisions for manager Joe Girardi, particularly in the bullpen.   One caveat is that Andy Pettitte will start the season on the 15-day disabled list, but it will be retroactive to spring training as he will come off the DL five days [...]
