In all honesty, I had never been “a blog guy,” before starting Big Apple Sports with Christian Chiavetta and Bill Slattery back in December.
We are now roughly two months into the site’s existence and I’m learning a lot about the blogosphere and the immense volume of sports blogs which I didn’t know existed. Without a doubt, the coolest thing for me to date has been the feedback we’ve gotten from readers who are strangers to us outside of this forum. It is greatly appreciated and I hope to see more comments on posts in the future.
If there has been any criticsm of the blog, it has been our failure to cover hockey, specifically the Devils. Admittedly, the hockey coverage has been lacking to date. However, I want to emphasize that this site is not a news site. The site is more or less a reflection of blogs or other stories we read that are NY sports related. Sure enough, hockey gets the short end when it comes to media coverage ,not just in the tri-state area but everywhere in the United States. Hockey has had this problem for a while, and it has not been helped by the lockout, losing the ESPN contract, and the decision to broadcast games on Versus.
Despite the mild media coverage, hockey, as the games are concerned, is in great shape and the tri-state locals are all playing meaningful games right now. It is certainly a plus.
As the situation warrants, there will be plenty of hockey posts in the future. However, if there are any die hard hockey fans who wish to add to Big Apple Sports as a blogger, feel free to e-mail us at bigapplesportsblog@gmail.com.

Timmy Ballgame, shame on your for not covering hockey more. You were the MVP of the 2002 LHL playoffs my man. Get on it!
I don’t understand why someone would complain about New Jersey Devils coverage on a New York sports blog. Obviously Miss Teen South Carolina was right Americans not having maps.
Good come back Juice. You missed the point. There has been hardly any hockey period in blogs. Since the Rangers has sucked all season. Didn’t matter my Devils has been kicking ass. There has been no hockey coverage. Rangers or Islanders. Miss Teen South Carolina? Is that the sport follow?
You can live in NY and love the NJ teams. I have seen even NJ fans love the NY teams. Anything wrong with that? As EMT has said “You missed the point Juice”.
