NBA’s Trade Deadline has come and gone…and the Knicks failed to pull the trigger on any deals to bring them either short-term cap relief or more remarkably, another exorbitantly over-priced veteran on the last legs of his career…
Maybe, NBA Commissioner David Stern requested that the other NBA teams stop taking advantage of the Knicks previous generosity. Perhaps, the Knicks have finally reached a point where everyone on their roster cannot be traded…perhaps, Isiah got so angy at the “Fire Isiah!” chants that he refused to pick up the phone and talk to other teams…or maybe, and this is a stretch mind you, Knicks CEO James Dolan told him “back off, you’ve done enough damage already. Let’s leave this wreck for the new people.”
To be honest, I see this as a sign…Isiah’s departure is nearing. He has either run out of motivation, run out of ideas, or run out of control…regardless of which one it is, no general manager can continue with this track record and this mess. And no head coach can survive the mounting losses.
I have a new idea for Knicks fans. Forget the “Fire Isiah!” chants. Dolan is either too dim or too arrogant to care. I think we need to alter the course and seek to have Dolan sell the team. Because if he won’t get rid of Isiah, then we should find someone who will. So I propose a “Dolan Sell!” chant.
